Biomedical Science & Research Journals | Smart Advances in Healthcare for Geriatric Patients

Image
Biomedical science is recognizing the value and importance of applications utilizing SMART technologies in the care and treatment of our aging population. Improved health and social care over recent years has increased life expectancy worldwide. As a result, nearly 7% of the world’s population is now over 65 years of age. The proportion of older people is predicted to rise approximately 20% by 2050 worldwide [ 1 ]. The increasing number and proportion of older adults requires a greater focus on policies and resources to meet the needs of this growing global population. Smart home technologies encourage and allow aging individuals to live longer in their own homes. When we speak of this technology, SMART stands for Self- Monitoring Analysis and Reporting Technology. Recent clinical research [ 2 - 5 ] has identified the value and benefits of wearable SMART technology for various populations raising the question as to whether there may be beneficial use with individuals in treat...

Biomedical Science & Research Journals | The Treatment of Women with Post-Menopausal Undifferentiated Arthralgia -The First Report of Efficacy of Hormone Replacement Therapy

Image
Objective: Peri- and post-menopausal women commonly present with morning stiffness and joint pain, often without joint swelling or pathological abnormalities, presenting clinicians with diagnostic and management troubles. This study evaluates the use of Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) for symptomatic relief in these patients to discriminate early stage of rheumatoid arthritis. Methods: 174 female patients were screened between January and September in 2018. Rheumatoid factor (RF), anti-CCP antibody, CRP, estradiol (E2), and follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) testing was performed; 24 with morning stiffness but no significant joint pain, 27 patients meeting criteria for defined autoimmune rheumatic disease, or 16 with declined treatment and 24 with miscellaneous diseases were excluded. Of the 83 remaining UA,15 were perimenopausal and prescribed Tocopherol N, and 68 were postmenopausal and prescribed HRT. Patients were reassessed following two to six months of treatment...

Biomedical Science & Research Journals | True Reason for Climate Change

Image
The US withdrawal from the Paris Agreement is the right move by President D. Trump. To sustain and enhance such a move, he needs an idea based on the true cause of climate change. The International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) found greenhouse gases to be the culprit for climate destruction. Water vapor is a greenhouse gas. Climate changes from the destruction of the water cycle between the atmosphere and the surface of the planet. The water circuit has been refined for millions of years. The last 100 - 200 years, this mechanism began to deteriorate with the development of civilization. We turned water into a working reagent, changed its natural purpose. We destroy the structure of water in all technological processes where it is used. These are heating, boiling, cooling, hardening, drying, washing, pressure and many other operations. After each of them, the water evaporates immediately and after it is drained into the sewage system and septic tanks. Evaporation of such waters ...

Biomedical Science & Research Journals | Perceptive- Cognitive Functional Learning Model Based on The Self-Management of Students with Autistic Spectrum Disorder: A Comparative Analysis

Image
Teaching-learning models applied to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) must focus on naturalistic didactic processes to facilitate the self-management of own student through the previous given competences, following local semantic process structure they describe your information processing way. A total of 20 students with ASD have participated in the study, aged between 6 and 14 age years, divided into two groups, an experimental group (EG) consisting of 10 students and a control group (CG) formed by 10 other students. Results found along 3 successive measures over 8 months, performed throughout ANOVA W test of 1-factor comparative measures, allows to conclude the students who belong to EG significantly improved in aspects related to conceptual coding and in self-management of their own learning, with respect to their CG peers. Biomedical Science & Research Journals | Brenda Milner: 100 Years from The Birthday

Image
Brenda Milner is a renowned British-Canadian neuropsychologist known as “the founder of neuropsychology”. She was born about 100 years ago, and as a Cambridge graduate, she started her research carreer of a neurobiologist and psychologist in 1940s. Her comprehensive contribution to the development of clinical neuropsychology thereafter was marked by several awards including the Balzan Prize for Cognitive Neuroscience in 2009 and the Kavli Prize in Neuroscience in 2014 (shared with Marcus Raichle and John O’Keefe), as well as memberships in the Royal Society of London, the Royal Society of Canada and the National Academy of Sciences. She holds more than 20 honorary degrees at universities across Europe, Canada and the USA. Currently, Brenda Milner keeps working as a professor in the Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery at McGill University (Montreal, Canada) and a professor of Psychology at the Montreal Neurological Institute with her research mainly focused on the inter-hemisphe...

Biomedical Science & Research Journals | The Importance of Residual Renal Function in Peritoneal Dialysis

Image
Renal residual function (RRF) is defined like the glomerular filtration rate (GFR) maintained by patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) after being included in some dialysis technique [ 1 ]. It is difficult to discern which is the best way to calculate it, but it is probably the average of the sum of the urea and creatinine clearance [ 1 ]. Throughout this review the most relevant aspects of RRF in peritoneal dialysis (PD) its benefits, its relationship with dialysis adequacy, survival in the technique will be analyzed, concluding with a summary of the most important keys for the preservation of it. Biomedical Science & Research Journals | Emotional Core Therapy is Scientifically Proven to be the Most Effective Psychology Approach Available Worldwide to Treat Anxiety

Image
Anxiety is with most humans throughout the day. Acute anxiety can be harmful for the central nervous system. For the first time in history, we have a behavioral psychology approach that can effectively treat the root cause of anxiety. The key is to use the eight step Emotional Core Therapy (ECT) flowchart properly. This is no easy task and likely takes 5-20 hours or more to comprehend. Once you learn and apply the ECT flowchart to one’s daily lives, you will have a psychological process that works each and every time you use it to treat anxiety the situational anxiety in one’s life. In this journal article, I will highlight several aspects of the Emotional Core Therapy flowchart which are unique to the field of behavioral psychology. First is the fact that Emotional Core Therapy is the only behavioral psychology approach available worldwide that effectively treats the root cause of anxiety. Second is the inclusive nature of the Eight step ECT flowchart. The ECT proce...
